Duplicate Steps or Metrics in Apple Health

Some users may notice that steps or other health metrics appear duplicated in Apple Health when using Circular alongside another device such as the Apple Watch.

This is not a bug in Circular or Apple Watch—it's simply how Apple Health chooses to handle data from multiple sources. You stay in control by managing your data sources or removing unwanted entries.

Why does this happen?

Apple Health automatically decides whether to merge or separate data from different sources based on timestamps.

  • If the timestamps we send from the Circular app are slightly different from those recorded by your Apple Watch, Apple Health interprets them as additional activity rather than overlapping activity.
  • This can make it look like your steps, heart rate, or other metrics are higher than expected when both devices are contributing data.

What can I do?

If you prefer not to see duplicate metrics, here are the steps to follow:

Adjust data sources in Apple Health

  1. Open the Apple Health app.
  2. Go to Steps (or the metric in question).
  3. Scroll to Data Sources & Access.
  4. **Reorder **or **disable **one of the sources (e.g., Apple Watch or Circular) so Apple Health prioritizes one over the other.
