GPS tracking (Sport Session) is not working

If you're noticing issues with your GPS tracking during Sport Sessions—such as incorrect distance, speed, or missing/jumping trace—it’s important to understand that GPS data comes directly from your phone, not from the Circular Ring itself.

These problems typically stem from how your phone's GPS interacts with the Circular app. Here’s how to make sure everything is set up correctly:

1. Check App Permissions

Go to your phone settings > Apps > Circular and ensure:

  • Location Permission is set to “Allow all the time” (not just “While using the app”)
  • On iOS: ensure “Location” is set to “Always”
  • Precise location is enabled
  • On Android: disable the settings “Remove permissions if app is unused” or "Manage unused app"
  • Don't be in Power Saving Mode

🛑 2. Don’t Kill the App During a Session

Make sure the Circular app remains active during your Sport Session. Closing it or removing it from background apps can interrupt the GPS tracking, because battery optimization may shut down background activity.

⚙️ 3. Disable Battery Optimization (Android only)

On Android, go to:

Settings > Battery > Battery Usage > Circular

  • Set to “Unrestricted” or “Don’t optimize”

This ensures the app keeps tracking even when your screen is off.

📱 iOS-Specific Notes

iPhones tend to handle GPS permissions more strictly in the background. If you're using Low Power Mode or have strict privacy settings, make sure Circular is still allowed full access to GPS at all times.
