My sleep tracking is innacurate. What can I do?

Occasionally, the ring's detection of the start or end of sleep might be off, or there could be an unusual bug that interrupted your night. We're continuously improving our algorithms.

However, if you're consistently getting inaccurate results when tracking your sleep with the Circular Ring, there are a few things you can do to increase the accuracy of your sleep data.

Manually Recalibrating the PPG Sensor

To recalibrate the PPG sensor, follow these steps:

  1. Open the app and go to the top-left menu.
  2. Select Settings > Self-Diagnostic.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions. You will need a piece of white paper for the recalibration process.

The following advice will help you make sure your ring is getting the most information possible:

1. Avoid Syncing Your Ring's Data During Sleep Period

Ensure that you’re not syncing your ring’s data in the middle of your sleep. Syncing during sleep can interrupt the data recording process, leading to incomplete or inaccurate sleep analysis. Plan your syncing routine so it does not coincide with your sleep schedule.

2. Check Battery Level Before Going to Bed

Before you go to bed, connect your Circular Ring to the Circular app to check the battery level. A low battery can result in missed data or incomplete sleep tracking. Make sure your ring has sufficient charge to last through the night.

3. Wear the Ring at Least 70 Minutes Before Going to Bed

For optimal sleep tracking, make sure to wear your Circular ring at least 70 minutes before you go to sleep. This allows the ring to accurately capture pre-sleep biometrics, which are essential for understanding your full sleep cycle and health readiness.

4. Wait 70 Minutes After Waking Up Before Syncing

After waking up, wait at least 70 minutes before syncing your ring with the Circular app. This ensures that all post-sleep data is fully recorded and processed by the ring, which helps improve the accuracy and completeness of your sleep report.

Additional Tips for Accurate Sleep Tracking

  • Wear the Ring Correctly: Ensure that the ring fits snugly on your finger without being too tight or too loose. Proper fit ensures accurate sensor readings. You can learn more in this article.
  • Update Firmware and App: Keep your Circular Ring and the Circular app updated to the latest versions. Updates often include improvements and bug fixes that can enhance data accuracy.
